Physical Education
Our thriving Physical Education Department is a key to the success of our future as a Sports College.
As well as delivering high quality courses throughout the College which include Junior Sport Leader Awards, GCSE and Btec Sport, the department makes a very significant contribution to the extra curricular life of the College. The Community Sports Development Officer ensures our excellent facilities are used by both the College and the community throughout the day and well beyond College hours.
The College is the hub for the Wyre School’s Sports Co-ordination and link teachers within the Primary Schools help all children in the area to experience quality P.E. provision thus enhancing physical activity in the community. Staff from the department regularly visit other establishments in order to share their expertise.
Students enjoy outstanding success representing the College at their chosen sports. Our teams are league and district winners in rugby, football (both boys and girls), netball, hockey, rounders, cross-country and athletics. Students from the College have gone on to develop their specialisms at county, national and Olympic level.
Central to all our teaching is the knowledge that physical activity and a healthy lifestyle are essential components for life. All students are encouraged whatever their standard and skill level to achieve their ‘personal best’.
