LRC Library

The Learning Resource Centre at Fleetwood High School has approximately 10000 catalogued resources. We have a wide selection of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Reference and Text books. We also stock daily newspapers, magazines and have a wide variety of educational games.

The LRC has areas for study, quiet reading and 30 networked computers with printing, and safe access to the Internet.

It also has a Connexions Point, which is stocked with careers books, videos, information leaflets and School prospectus'. Our Connexions advisors are regularly available for appointments in the LRC for advice on matters in or out of school, exams, School and applications, careers, benefits etc.

The LRC is open all day, every day, from 8.00am for Breakfast Club and is open after school until 4.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for Homework Club, when students can use the LRC facilities to help with their studies.

During lesson times the LRC is used by groups with their teacher to complete projects, research topics and borrow books for class reading. Year 7 students follow an induction programme into effective use of the LRC during their first term at Fleetwood High School.

At Break and Lunchtime, students can borrow and return books, read play games, work on computers or chat quietly to one another in a calm, safe, relaxed and pleasant environment. We have student librarians who are trained to oversee these activities and offer assistance.

We have a Chess Club once a week at lunchtime. On "No Computer Day" students are encouraged to use other resources available to them in the LRC and play games together.
