Homework & Equipment
We believe that homework helps to develop good study habits and self-reliance, which becomes increasingly important as students progress through the College. Homework is regularly set in all subjects. It is intended for students to extend their knowledge and understanding and to develop their organisational skills. Students are expected to record homework in planners and parents are asked to sign the planner each week.
Parents play an important part in supporting the College by helping to monitor the amount of work their children complete as homework. This will vary from around one hour each night in Year 7 to up to two hours each night at external exam level in Years 10 and 11. Should homework not be completed, a series of letters will be sent home addressed to parents.
Please contact the student’s Team Tutor or Director of Learning if you have any concerns about Homework.
Students will need the following equipment and a suitable bag in which to carry their possessions including books and P.E. kit. They should always have the correct equipment with them for their lessons.
It is important that all items of clothing and personal property are clearly marked with their owner’s name.
Valuable items such as mobile phones, ipods, designer coats are the personal responsibility of the student and the College accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage which may occur.
If a large sum of money has to be brought in it should be given immediately to a teacher for safe-keeping. Students should look after their personal property and money, and not leave it in unguarded coats or bags. Lockers are available for hire.
