
Design TechnologyDesign Technology is a strength of the School and the Design Technology Department boasts a fully equipped technology suite with seven specialist rooms, which support the delivery of Resistant Materials, Graphics, Food, Textiles and Pneumatics and Control Technology. The superb facilities feature teaching rooms all with networked computers, interactive whiteboards in the graphics rooms, CAD/CAM facilities in both Resistant Materials and Textiles, and a state of the art Food Room that incorporates an industrial conveyor oven. The department also has a full time technician who supports the staff with preparation of stock and setting up of rooms. Design technology at Fleetwood High School is held in regard with both staff and students, and the supportive team of dedicated teaching staff is a strength, often commented on. The curriculum at Key Stage Three is based around a five-part carousel system that gives that gives all years a chance to participate in all areas of technology. They are taught Resistant Materials, Graphics, Food, Textiles,Structures, Systems and CAD/CAM. This leads to a good development of progress against the national curriculum levels and it gives a balanced view of the subject areas when the year nine pupils take their options which are Resistant Materials,Graphics, Food and Textiles. At Key Stage Four the teaching and support within the department is a strength that has been praised by OFSTED. |
