C.S. Lewis Gymnazium - Slovakia Link SchoolDuring October of this year Mr. Roe and I spent a week in an eastern European country, Slovakia. This trip was arranged by the British Council and the Youth Sports Trust to establish links between schools in the UK and schools abroad. Sports Colleges from the North West were invited to Slovakia with 19 members of staff from schools across Lancashire travelling to various schools in the country.
That’s not even a whole year group in our school! Also, in their first year they have 30 hours of lessons a week, 20 hours taught in English. Remember, English isn’t their first language. Just imagine having your history, science and maths lessons taught to you in French! Like our school, staff are enthusiastic about getting the personal best out of their students and were eager to establish a link with our college. Mr Roe and I also had opportunities to see the capital city of Bratislava and many other sights of cultural interest, including the beautiful Devin castle.
